Blind Sport New Zealand (BSNZ) is the NSO (National Sporting Organisation) for blind sport. With its headquarters being found in the ‘City of Sails’, Auckland; New Zealand’s largest city.
It is recognised by the New Zealand Government and Sport New Zealand as the governing body for blind sport in New Zealand.
Blind Sport promotes opportunities for blind and low vision athletes to participate in National and International events (which include the Paralympics).
Blind Sport New Zealand was formed in 1991 to negotiate funding and opportunities in sport both in New Zealand and internationally, on behalf of blind and low vision individuals and groups.
Individuals or groups involved with recognised sports are empowered and they may apply for funding to BSNZ dependent on the applicable Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines which exist.
