Our two Paralympians competed for places in the 2008 BEIJING Summer Paralympic Games.
These were the 3rd edition of the 4 yearly cycle of IBSA World Championships
The sports at these Championships and Games were athletics, 5-a-side football, goalball, judo, powerlifting and swimming.The athletes:
Tim Prendergast (Wellington) leading the pack in Athens. He is presently working in London where he is an athlete mentor. A gold medalist from the Athens Paralympics. Two silver medals from the Sydney Paralympics.
Tim won GOLD in the 5000m and SILVER in the 1500m.
Daniel won GOLD in the 200m breastroke and SILVER in the 100m breastroke.
Daniel Sharp (Laingholm, Auckland) A bronze medalist in swimming from the Athens Paralympics. Five golds and a silver from the 2005 IBSA World Youth Championships.
