COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, USA - 11th to 16th August, 2007.
Two young vision impaired New Zealanders took on the World at the 3rd International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) WORLD YOUTH & STUDENT GAMES.
These athletes (both swimmers) competed against athletes from 26 countries.
The sports at these Games were athletics, goalball, judo and swimming.
The venue for the swimming was the Aquatic Centre of the U.S. Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs.
The Kiwi kids are:
Mary Fisher (Upper Hutt); winner of SIX GOLD medals.
They are both 14 years of age and took part in the USABA Sports Festival and the Rocky Mountain State Games in Colorado Springs in August last year.
Daniel Holt (Albany); winner of FOUR GOLD medals.
They left Auckland on 7th July to acclimatise to the altitude of Colorado Springs (6,200 feet or 1880 meters) before the World Youth Championships started on 12th July.
